“Jeff is the ideal candidate to take over the position of Managing
Partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. For over twenty years,
he has practiced international telecommunications and intellectual
property law at the highest level as well as being an active litigator
and corporate counselor. He has been engaged almost since the
Washington office’s founding in the building of the office and its
practices,” said Martin Frederic Evans, the firm’s Presiding Partner.
Mr. Cunard is an internationally recognized lawyer in the areas of
communications, copyright and Internet law. Most recently, he was
appointed to co-direct the Clinical Program at the Berkman Center for
Internet & Society at Harvard Law School, where he also co-taught a
course this past Fall. He is the co-author of a one-volume treatise on
copyright, has co-authored two books on international communications and
is also a frequent lecturer and contributor to legal publications in the
areas of communications and intellectual property law. Mr. Cunard is
also an active member of the D.C. cultural and arts community. He
currently serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Freer Gallery
of Art/Arthur M. Sackler Gallery and Smithsonian Institution.
Mr. Cunard is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles
and Yale Law School, where he was an Editor of the Yale Law Journal.
After law school, he clerked for U.S. District Judge Wm. Matthew Byrne,
Jr. in Los Angeles, California.
