New York, NY, July 25, 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Mound Cotton Wollan & Greengrass, a leading law firm with a practice concentrating on all aspects of insurance and reinsurance, announced today that Philip Walsh has joined the firm as Of Counsel, resident in the firm’s New York office.
With over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, as both general counsel and in leadership capacities within major law firms, Mr. Walsh will focus on the continued growth of Mound Cotton’s reinsurance, directors and officers and financial institutions insurance practices.

Mr. Walsh joins Mound Cotton from Hextalls & Co LLP, where he served as partner, working with leading national and international insurance and reinsurance firms that write various classes of business, including directors and officers, financial institutions, and professional indemnity.
Previously, Mr. Walsh headed the reinsurance group at Wilson, Elser, Edelman & Dicker, where he served as lead counsel on numerous arbitrations and trials in reinsurance and insurance disputes. Mr. Walsh represented international insurance and reinsurance brokers in litigation throughout the United States.
Prior to joining Wilson, Elser, Mr. Walsh served as general counsel for NAC PAC Re, the predecessor of XL Re. He managed all claims and accounting staff and directed claim and premium audits that resulted from the firm running off its assumed business. Mr. Walsh negotiated numerous commutations and dispute resolutions short of arbitration/litigation.

Mr. Walsh received his B.A. from Assumption College and his J.D. from University of Detroit School of Law.
