Newark, NJ— LAWFUEL – Law News Network – The Newark office of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham LLP (K&LNG) welcomes Frank L. Politano as a partner in its intellectual property practice. Politano comes to the firm from AT&T Corp.
Politano’s practice focuses on trademarks, copyrights, unfair competition and licensing. His experience includes clearing and protecting brand and trade names; licensing or assigning intellectual property rights; and litigating matters related to trademark and copyright infringement, unfair competition, dilution, entertainment law and related intellectual property issues.
“Intellectual property matters are among the most pressing for our clients,” said Anthony P. La Rocco, K&LNG Newark’s administrative partner. “Frank strengthens our already formidable intellectual property group throughout the firm. Our clients, who operate in diverse markets nationally and internationally, will benefit from his global intellectual property experience.”
Peter J. Kalis, Chair of K&LNG’s Management Committee, said: “Frank’s arrival represents another significant step in the development of our firmwide intellectual property practice, as it also signifies the introduction of that practice into our Newark office. Combined with our international resources that include over 100 intellectual property lawyers, K&LNG is well positioned to advise its clients as they navigate this complex and evolving area of law.”
In addition to welcoming Politano, K&LNG’s commitment to meeting the intellectual property expectations and needs of the firm’s clients can be evidenced in several ways. In January 2005, for instance, K&LNG Boston welcomed 18 intellectual property lawyers (six partners and 12 associates) from Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault LLP. Three months later, K&LNG opened an office in Palo Alto to strengthen the firm’s presence in Silicon Valley and California. In February 2006, K&LNG launched a Stem Cell Technology practice that combines the knowledge and experience of lawyers from diverse areas of the firm, including international corporate, food and drug, and intellectual property practice groups.
Thomas J. Turano, a partner in K&LNG’s Intellectual Property group, said: “We are delighted that Frank has chosen to join us after his long and successful career at AT&T. Clients across all of our offices will benefit from Frank’s leadership in developing and protecting one of America’s great global brands.”
