(LAWFUEL) – Three men will appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court tomorrow morning following their arrest in New South Whales this morning in relation to drug trafficking offences.
These arrests follow three made earlier this month in Victoria and the ACT by the AFP in relation to the same investigation. The AFP executed two search warrants, at residential premises in Auburn and Fairfield
West, where ecstasy tablets, mobile phones and a taser were seized.
Two Auburn men, aged 46 and 43 years, and a 34 year old Fairview West man were arrested this morning following the search warrants. The men were charged with drug trafficking offences and were extradited to
Melbourne.
These arrests follow a joint investigation conducted by the AFP and Australian Customs and Border Protection Service in relation to the world’s single largest seizure of 4.4 tonnes of ecstasy last year.
The number of arrests made in relation to this investigation now totals 31 throughout NSW, Vic, ACT and SA. The men were charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of a border controlled drug, contrary to section 302.2 of the Criminal Code Act 1995.
The maximum penalty for these offences is life imprisonment and/or an $825,000 fine.
