On October 29, 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Cravath partner John W. White was appointed to the Standing Advisory Group of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. Mr. White will serve a two-year term commencing in January 2006. The Standing Advisory Group consists of approximately 30 members (plus participants from 6 observing organizations) with expertise in a variety of fields and advises the PCAOB on the establishment of auditing and related professional practice standards.
The PCAOB is a private-sector, non-profit corporation created by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 to oversee the auditors of public companies in order to protect the interests of investors and further the public interest in the preparation of informative, fair, and independent audit reports.
