Including Securities and Shareholder Litigation

Boston, Mass. (LAWFUEL) – July 1, 2008 – Pepper Hamilton LLP announced that Roger A. Lane, a complex commercial litigator with particular experience in corporate law disputes and related federal securities law issues, has joined the firm as a partner in the Boston office.

“Roger’s commercial litigation practice is an ideal fit for our Boston office,” said Amy B. Ginensky, chair of Pepper Hamilton’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group. “He is skilled at bringing litigation matters to a quick and favorable result, and he is adept at risk management, helping clients avoid litigation altogether. He will be an immediate asset to our litigation and corporate clients alike, and will, in Boston, help us to continue growing our nationwide practice.”

Mr. Lane represents business enterprises and individuals, including early-stage and mature corporations (both public and private), venture capital and other private equity firms, investment banks and underwriters, in a broad range of corporate and commercial disputes.

He handles litigation relating to federal securities, corporate mergers and acquisitions, corporate debt and equity financings, executive compensation and other matters of corporate management and governance, trust administration, federal taxation, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, antitrust, unfair competition and other business torts.

Mr. Lane also counsels clients on how to mitigate litigation risk in connection with significant corporate and commercial transactions. He has advised directors and shareholders of private and public corporations concerning compliance with corporate-law fiduciary duties and federal antitrust clearance in scores of M&A transactions.

He is included in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, in recognition of the strength of his general commercial litigation practice. The guide says, “Roger Lane…receives a wealth of commendations. With a varied practice including risk management, stock options and compliance work, he also handles more traditional litigation matters and has recently dealt with a case involving derivatives questions for a major national communications company.”

“I am delighted to join Pepper and the firm’s outstanding Commercial Litigation Practice Group,” said Mr. Lane. “The group has a well-deserved national reputation, getting great results for its clients. The opportunities for growth are terrific, and I look forward to expanding my practice while assisting Pepper’s existing clients.”

Mr. Lane joined Pepper Hamilton from Greenberg Traurig, LLP, where he was a shareholder and co-chair of the Litigation Practice Group in the Boston office. Before that, he was a partner and chairman of the Litigation Group at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP, until its dissolution in 2005.

He is a graduate of the University of Michigan (B.A. 1984) and Harvard Law School (J.D. 1987). After law school, he clerked for one year for the Honorable John R. Gibson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
