PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 13 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network — Buchanan Ingersoll PC announced today the addition of shareholder Frank A. Mayer, III to its Corporate Finance Section in Philadelphia. Mayer, who joins the firm from Montgomery McCracken, has handled significant matters throughout the region, including issues for
United States Senator Arlen Specter, Governor Edward G. Rendell, the City of
Philadelphia, Philadelphia City Controller Alan Butkovitz and the Delaware
River City Corporation. He currently represents Microsoft in its School of the
Future project for the School District of Philadelphia.
Mayer’s addition to Buchanan Ingersoll is a continuation of the strategic
growth the firm has undertaken in recent months. Preliminary financial reports
indicate that the firm’s 2005 revenues grew by 26 percent, profits per partner
grew by 19 percent and revenue per lawyer grew more than 10 percent.
“As I’ve said for the past year, we are focused on expanding in key
geographic and core practice areas, which includes both Philadelphia and
corporate finance,” Thomas L. VanKirk, Buchanan Ingersoll CEO, said. “We’re
pleased with the success we saw in 2005 and can’t think of a better way to
continue the momentum in 2006 than bringing Frank on board.”
Mayer’s significant matters include acting as lead counsel to the receiver
for the largest SEC equity receivership related to a $4 billion Ponzi scheme
that has to date distributed in excess of 90 percent to its victims, including
more than 100 financial institutions. He was instrumental in the formation of
the Delaware River City Corporation, the leading redevelopment entity for the
North Delaware riverfront. Mayer also acted as counsel to the transition team
for the newly installed Philadelphia City Controller, Alan Butkovitz. He
represented the City of Philadelphia as special counsel in connection with the
$1 billion-plus Philadelphia Eagles Football Stadium and Philadelphia Phillies
Baseball Park. He has also represented the Philadelphia Board of Pension and
Retirement in connection with a $100 million debenture transaction with an
 international financial institution.
Howard Scher, a leader of the firm’s Philadelphia office, said, “I have
known Frank for many years, and he has developed one of the most diverse and
high-profile transactional practices I’ve ever seen. Frank could have had his
pick of any law firm in Philadelphia, but decided to join Buchanan because of
the talented lawyers and rich resources of practice areas that we offer in all
 of our offices.”
