Philadelphia, PA – January 13, 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Pepper Hamilton LLP announced that four lawyers were elected to the partnership and two were elected of counsel effective January 1, 2005.

The new partners are as follows. All were associates with Pepper, with the
exception of Ms. Shea Ballay, who was of counsel.

Steven J. Abrams (partner, Philadelphia) concentrates his practice in
securities, venture capital, and merger and acquisition transactions. He
has experience in public and private offerings of equity securities, and the
acquisition and disposition of public and private companies. He also
counsels senior management of companies on governance, disclosure and
transactional matters. A graduate of Rutgers College (B.A. 1990) and the
University of Pennsylvania Law School (J.D. 1995), Mr. Abrams joined Pepper
in 1995.

Kathleen Shea Ballay (partner, Philadelphia) focuses her practice on
corporate mergers and acquisitions, real estate investment trusts, and the
structuring of venture capital funds, business relationships for investors
and business owners, business plans for start-up companies, complex
partnerships and other joint venture arrangements. A graduate of Villanova
University (B.S. 1987), Fordham University School of Law (J.D. 1990) and
Georgetown University Law Center (LL.M. 1993), Ms. Shea Ballay joined Pepper
in 1993.

Jonathan A. Clark (partner, Berwyn) focuses his practice on employee
benefits, executive compensation and related securities law matters,
including benefits and compensation issues arising during transactions,
equity-based compensation arrangements for directors and executives, and the
design, implementation, operation, communication and termination of
qualified retirement plans. A graduate of The Johns Hopkins University
(B.A. 1991) and the University of Chicago Law School (J.D. 1994), Mr. Clark
joined Pepper in 2001.

Joseph Melnik (partner, Pittsburgh) is a registered patent attorney who
helps clients identify, protect and maximize the value of their intellectual
property. Mr. Melnik’s practice includes counseling clients in the
software, information technology, display technology and mechanical fields.
A graduate of Ohio State University (B.S. 1991) and Case Western Reserve
University School of Law (J.D. 1994), he joined Pepper in 2002.

Sharon F. DiPaolo (of counsel, Pittsburgh) concentrates her practice in real
estate litigation, including lease disputes, tax assessment appeals, and
eminent domain and zoning issues. She also is experienced in a variety of
commercial litigation matters, including contract, intellectual property,
construction and class actions. A graduate of Duquesne University (B.S.
1988) and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law (J.D. 1994), Ms.
DiPaolo joined Pepper in 1995.

Jeffrey A. Mills (of counsel, Pittsburgh) focuses his practice in the areas
of commercial and corporate finance, bond, real estate, energy, health care
and general corporate representation. Mr. Mills received his undergraduate
and graduate degrees from the University of Pittsburgh (B.A. 1991, M.B.A.
1994 and J.D. 1994). He joined Pepper in 1998.
