Philadelphia, Pa. – January 4, 2006 – LAWFUEL- The Law News Network – Pepper Hamilton LLP announced that William L. McCusker, formerly senior vice president of global branding with Manpower Inc., has joined the firm as chief marketing officer, effective January 3, 2006.
“Bill is a senior executive with substantial experience marketing
professional services,” said Barry M. Abelson, chairman of Pepper’s
executive committee. “We believe his talent and the fresh perspective he
brings from outside the legal industry will be extremely valuable as we
refine and execute our practice and strategic objectives. We are excited to
have him join our senior management team.”
Mr. McCusker joins Pepper from Manpower Inc., a $16 billion global staffing
company. As senior vice president of global branding, he reported to the
CEO and was responsible for repositioning the organization as a provider of
higher-level, permanent placement and human resources consulting services,
in addition to temporary staffing services. He oversaw all aspects of
market and competitor assessment, brand idea development, worldwide
communications, planning and execution.
Before Manpower acquired Right Management Consultants in 2004, Mr. McCusker
served as Right’s executive vice president of marketing, with global
responsibility for all aspects of branding and marketing for the company’s
career transition and organizational consulting services.

Mr. McCusker previously was a partner with Arthur Andersen LLP. In his 20
years with that firm, he served as director of marketing and business
development for the Philadelphia region, developed and directed best
practices marketing approaches for all of its U.S. offices, and later became
partner-in-charge of solution segment marketing, with global responsibility
for marketing the firm’s four service lines (auditing, tax, business
consulting and corporate finance services).
Mr. McCusker received an undergraduate degree in English from the University
of Notre Dame and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan, with a
concentration in marketing and computer information systems.
Pepper hired its first CMO in 1998, when Mary Beth Pratt, one of the
pioneers of law firm marketing, joined the firm. Ms. Pratt is retiring from
full-time law firm marketing and will continue working with the legal
industry in a consulting capacity.
