PHOENIX (LAWFUEL) – William Morris Young III, 35, of Phoenix, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge G. Murray Snow to eight years in federal prison. Young pleaded guilty on July 1, 2008 to Conspiracy to Possess with the Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine. Young conspired with others to traffic methamphetamine to the New York area and in April and May 2007, he sold quantities of methamphetamine to an individual who then transported the drugs to New York City with the intent to re-sell them.
Young’s conviction in this case represent his sixth felony conviction. His prior felonies include two convictions for Possession of Dangerous Drugs for Sale, two convictions for Possession of Equipment or Chemicals for the Manufacture of illegal drugs, and one conviction for Possession of Dangerous Drugs. Due to his prior convictions related to drug sales and manufacturing, Judge Snow determined Young was a “Career Offender” and enhanced his sentence to eight years which will be followed by an additional three years of Supervised Release.
The investigation in this case was conducted by Drug Enforcement Administration and the Phoenix Police Department. The prosecution was handled by Michael Lee, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
