PORTLAND, ME (November 3, 2004) LAWFUEL – Law, law firm, legal, attorney news – Six attorneys have joined the law firm of Verrill Dana, LLP in its Portland office: Barbara L. Coleman, Nora R. Healy, Peter J. Heissenbuttel, Emily L. Kahn, Robert F. Pluscec, and Suzannah B. Pogue.

Barbara L. Coleman has joined the firm as an Associate in the Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Department. Prior to her arrival at Verrill Dana, she was employed by The Benefits Consulting Group, Inc., in Chicago, IL. Coleman received her law degree from Tulane Law School in 2001, and an LL.M. in taxation from Boston University School of Law in 2002.

Nora R. Healy has joined the firm in the Utilities and Energy Group within the Regulatory and Legislative Department. Healy is a graduate of Oberlin College and received her J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law in 2002. She subsequently served as a Law Clerk to Justices Howard H. Dana, Jr. and Susan Calkins, both of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. Healy has also served as a legal intern for Judge Kermit V. Lipez of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Peter J. Heissenbuttel has joined the firm as an Associate in the Regulatory and Legislative Department with a concentration in Health Law. Heissenbuttel is a magna cum laude graduate of Cornell University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering; he received his J.D., with honors, from The George Washington University School of Law, where he was a member of The George Washington Law Review.

Emily L. Kahn has joined the firm as an Associate in the Business Law Department with a concentration in mergers and acquisitions. Kahn is a graduate of the University of Rochester, and received her J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1996. Following her graduation, Kahn was associated with the Atlanta firm of Powell Goldstein Frazer & Murphy, and later with the Boston firm of Bingham McCutchen, LLP. Prior to joining Verrill Dana, Kahn represented public, private, emerging growth companies specializing in securities law compliance, venture financing, and technology licensing.

Robert F. Pluscec has joined the firm as an Associate and will be focusing on both Real Estate and Business Law. Pluscec earned his J.D. in 2002 from Duke University School of Law and received his B.A. in 1992 from Lafayette College.

Suzannah B. Pogue has joined the firm as an Associate in the Litigation Group. Pogue attended Emory University School of Law and received her J.D. in May of 2004. She has received several awards for her outstanding achievements including the Moot Court Society Award, Order of Emory Advocates Award, and the Robert Beynart Award for Professionalism and Ethics.
