PORTLAND, ORE. — LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Preston Gates & Ellis LLP announced today that Barbara Jacobson has elected to become a partner in the Portland office of Preston Gates & Ellis. A seasoned business attorney with extensive experience in complex real estate transactions and employment law, Jacobson brings to Preston Gates more than 20 years of legal experience in the Portland area.

Jacobson’s practice will focus on representing both public and private sector clients in a broad range of real estate law matters, including complex real estate transactions, real estate development, foreclosure work, and a variety of land use, zoning, permitting, environmental and financing issues. Additionally, she will counsel clients regarding labor and employment matters, including preparation of employment contracts and manuals, employment litigation, employee relations issues, dispute resolution, labor negotiations and strike preparation.

Jacobson joins the firm from The Port of Portland where she was responsible for the performance and oversight of all legal matters pertaining to Portland International Airport. Additionally, she served as lead employment and labor relations attorney, as well as lead attorney for major complex real estate transactions and financing projects for the Port at large.
Prior to her work for the Port, Jacobson worked in employment and real estate law at O’Donnell, Ramis, Crew & Corrigan in Portland; as general counsel for Caffall Bros. Forest Products, Inc. in Wilsonville, Ore.; and as a litigation attorney at Horenstein, Wynne, Ferguson & Stoumbos in Vancouver, Wash.
An active member of the Portland legal community, Jacobson is a member of the Oregon State Bar’s Aviation Section Committee and formally served on the RELU Legislative Committee, the Real Estate Committee and was a panel member of the attorney/client dispute resolution program. She is also an active member of the Airport Council International North America Legal Committee, an organization of attorneys who special in aviation law and in representing airports.
Jacobson often serves as a lecturer for Oregon State Bar continuing legal education (CLE) seminars and for other CLE providers. Additionally, she is a member of the Washington State Bar.
Jacobson earned her juris doctorate from Willamette University College of Law in Salem.
