Australian company may have stumbled across a cure for the debilitating condition of gout
The Elmore Oil Company, a Bendigo based company who manufactures a topical pain relief lotion for arthritis and muscular pain recently undertook a double blind, placebo controlled trial for their flagship product, Elmore Oil. The trial was headed by Dr. Ruth S. Sy, head Rheumatologist at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Quezon City and coordinated by respected researcher, Dr. Leticia LuceroPalma. In what could be a major breakthrough in medical science, all the patients in the trial have recorded reduced uric acid levels after being on Elmore Oil for as little as 4 weeks. The trial was set up to study the effects of Elmore Oil against a placebo, on patients aged between 45 and 90 years of age, who have been clinically diagnosed with osteoarthritis. The patients all recorded their pain levels in a detailed diary but they have also been blood tested prior to the trial and weekly thereafter. Dr. Palma noticed a marked drop in uric acids levels in all patients, up to 50% in some cases, which has led to an excited optimism that the company may have stumbled on a potential cure for gout. While it is too early to make assumptions the company is prepared to fund more research into the potential cure. A story on the effects of the product for arthritis as well as the potential for gout prevention will be aired on Australias leading news program, A Current Affair, in the week before Easter. Elmore Oil is a simple blend of Olive Oil, Eucalyptus Oil, Tea Tree Oil and specially prepared extracts of Vanilla. The companies Managing Director, Mark Linford, says the secret behind Elmore Oil is its unique blending process. “Elmore Oil is manufactured using a process known as Triple Maturation. It’s unique to Elmore Oil and it bonds the actives in the essentials oils to the circulatory components found in Vanilla so we have a product which enters the body quickly and gets to the source of the pain and inflammation quickly.” This advantage has been the driving factor behind the products spiralling popularity with the elderly generation for arthritis pain relief, but it has also struck favour with the younger and mid age groups as a recovery product for exercise and sport. Now with the potential to be used as a preventative for gout the product could be set for multi national fame. “We are hopeful that the next phase of the trial can isolate the components that are lowering the uric acid levels and allow us to pin point the science behind this amazing revelation.” Gout currently affects 16 million people worldwide and is in itself a form of arthritis. It most frequently effects men ages between 40 and 60 years of age and in 75% of the cases the first attack occurs in the big toe. Gout occurs as a result of excess uric acid in the blood and tissues. If uric acid crystals enter the joint, they may trigger the development of inflammation.
