Prominent finance lawyer joins Mayer Brown as partner in Chicago

Chicago, 26 March 2018 – Mayer Brown announced today that leading finance lawyer Matthew D. O’Meara has joined the firm in Chicago as a partner in the Banking & Finance practice, where he will serve as the head of the firm’s global Private Credit group. Previously, Mr. O’Meara was a partner at Jones Day.

Fisher, a co-leader of Mayer Brown’s global Lending group. “His extensive knowledge of finance markets and exceptional reputation, as well as his strong relationships with numerous financial institutions and alternative credit providers, will deepen and expand our finance offerings. His experience further expands Mayer Brown’s lending capabilities, a core component of our global Banking & Finance practice.”

Mr. O’Meara has more than 20 years of experience representing clients in complex debt financing transactions, with a focus on domestic and cross-border acquisition finance. He regularly advises clients such as asset managers, banks, finance companies, business development companies, private credit funds, institutional investors and issuers in structuring, negotiating, and documenting senior and senior-stretch loans, second lien loans, mezzanine financing, unitranche and private equity investments. In addition, he has extensive experience advising borrowers and private equity groups in senior and mezzanine financing transactions and has handled numerous workouts and restructurings for both debtors and creditors.

Mr. O’Meara earned his undergraduate and law degrees from Loyola University Chicago. He has spoken and written extensively on the global loan market and intercreditor issues.
