Receives Humanitarian Award for Charitable, Community Work
New York – LAWFUEL – Legal News, Legal Jobs Network – November 10, 2006 – Chadbourne & Parke LLP partner Alan Raylesberg was presented with the Humanitarian Award last night by the Award of Courage Corporation at its Award of Courage Dinner and Auction benefiting Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. The event took place at the Grand Hyatt in New York.
Raylesberg was honored as a long-time, active supporter of the Award of Courage Dinner and of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, as well as for his other charitable and civic involvement. Other honorees at this year’s dinner included former NFL star and TV celebrity Ahmad Rashad and Bill “Moose” Skowron of the 1961 Yankees.
Chadbourne & Parke co-sponsored the dinner and auction with The Schultz Organization.
“I’m very pleased by this recognition,” said Mr. Raylesberg. “There is no better cause to support than the war against cancer, a war that can be won with the help of dedicated medical professionals such as those at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.”
Mr. Raylesberg is the co-head of Chadbourne’s commercial litigation practice. He has extensive experience in commercial litigation matters of all kinds, with a number of sub-specialties, including securities litigation and accountants’ liability. Mr. Raylesberg also has experience defending both individuals and entities in white collar criminal matters and in regulatory proceedings before the Securities and Exchange Commission, the New York Stock Exchange and other agencies. He was recently listed in New York Super Lawyers (2006) in the areas of securities and business litigation.
In addition to supporting the Award of Courage Corporation, Mr. Raylesberg has long been involved in a variety of professional, civic and charitable activities. These include serving on the Board of the New York County Lawyers Association, the New York County Lawyers Foundation and the Fund for Modern Courts. He is a former member of the Executive Committee of the Town Club of New Castle, N.Y. Mr. Raylesberg has represented non-profit foundations, including Dorot Foundation, and has supported other charities such as the Dr. I. Fund Foundation (which raised money for medical research), the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, the Leukemia Society of America, the Center for Hope, the Make a Wish Foundation and the United Jewish Appeal.
A resident of Chappaqua, N.Y., Mr. Raylesberg holds a B.A. degree from New York University and a J.D. degree, cum laude, from Boston University, where he was a member of the Law Review. He has been married for 24 years to Caren and has two children: Lisa, a junior at Cornell University, and Jason, a junior at Horace Greeley High School.
