Jordan will remain at the helm of the firm as Managing Partner for a third term, beginning January 1, 2007, and ending December 31, 2009. Jordan was elected by the firm’s partners, voting took place during the 7 days just prior to October 3rd.

Jordan was first elected by his peers in 2000 to lead the venerable firm that represents many of the world’s largest and most successful companies. When he assumed the position on January 1, 2001, he became the youngest elected managing partner in Reed Smith’s 125-year history and one of the youngest managing partners providing day-to-day direction to one of the country’s AmLaw top 100 firms.
During the West Virginia native’s six-year tenure in the post, the firm’s leadership team has overseen significant growth in the number of its offices – from nine to 20 – and attorneys – from approximately 500 and soon to be nearly 1400 worldwide, including having opened new offices in California, London, Birmingham, Munich and Paris. Since 2000, Reed Smith’s revenue surged from $165 million annually to $750 million projected upon the full integration of the firm’s announced merger with London’s Richards Butler firm.
Jordan credits Reed Smith’s strong management team, which has launched a series of practice and professional innovations, including:
· Reed Smith University, developed in partnership with the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, which provides continuous training for the professional development of lawyers and staff
· The Reed Smith Woman’s Initiative, developed in partnership with Catalyst, which promotes the professional and personal development of the firm’s female attorneys

· Director of General Counsel Relations, an innovative program of systematically collecting feedback on its work from its clients in order to improve the relationships
An active member of the firm’s Litigation group, Jordan’s private clients include leading financial services companies and entertainment companies. His practice involves banking and financial services litigation, securities and derivative litigation, trade secrets, media and first amendment litigation. As Managing Partner, Jordan chairs the Senior Management Team and Executive Committee. He previously served as the firm’s Director of Legal Personnel and Director of Practice Development.
He has been listed in The Best Lawyers In America since 1995. In 2003, The American Lawyer named Jordan one of the nation’s top 45 lawyers under 45 years of age. Jordan graduated cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1984, where he was a member of the Law Review and Order of the Coif. He joined Reed Smith later that year.
A Sewickley, Pennsylvania resident, he earned his bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Bethany College in 1981, where he is Chair of the Board of Trustees. He is also a member of the Boards of Trustees of the Carnegie Science Center; and the Duquesne Club.
