Mahone, a partner at Reed Smith LLP in Pittsburgh, has been appointed a director of the Pittsburgh Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland for a three-year term beginning January 1. Branch directors contribute to monetary policy development and serve as a link between the Federal Reserve and the private sector by advising on monetary policy objectives, governance and other system issues.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland was established in 1914 as a part of the Federal Reserve System, the central bank of the United States. With offices in Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, it serves the Fourth Federal Reserve District, which comprises Ohio, western Pennsylvania, eastern Kentucky, and the northern panhandle of West Virginia. It is one of 12 regional Reserve Banks that, together with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C, make up the Federal Reserve System.

Mr. Mahone is a business and transactional attorney whose practice includes mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, rights and remedies of minority shareholders, corporate and partnership organization, reorganization and governance, radio broadcast property acquisition, commercial contracts and public and private issuance of securities, including tax-exempt financing, including refundings. He has been involved in a broad range of state and municipal authority transactions and has represented institutional investors and issuers in private placements. Mr. Mahone’s clients include emerging entrepreneurial enterprises, professional corporations and multinational corporations.
Mr. Mahone earned an LLM from Yale Law School in 1975 and his JD from Duquesne University School of Law in 1973. He serves as chair of the Allegheny County Airport Authority; and a trustee of Westminster College. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Homer S. Brown Law Association, the Allegheny County Bar Association and the National Bar Association, as well as Chairman of Manchester-Bidwell Corporation and a Director of Matthews International Corporation.
A Vietnam veteran, Mr. Mahone is active in community affairs. His past chairmanships include the Board of Visitors of Virginia State University and the Urban League of Pittsburgh. He and his wife, Andrea, have two adult sons.
