RESTON, March 10, 2005 – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary US LLP announced today that John G. McJunkin, a partner in the Bankruptcy and Business Reorganization practice group, has become the new managing partner of the firm’s Northern Virginia office.

His appointment is the latest strategic move at DLA Piper, where a series of recent,
dramatic mergers have made the firm into one of the world’s largest, with more
than 2,800 lawyers in 49 offices in 18 countries around the world. The Northern
Virginia office, in Reston, is also entering a period of important strategic growth
aiming to expand the global services it offers its Washington area clients.

“I’m very excited about this opportunity,” said Mr. McJunkin, who also leads
the firm’s Washington and Northern Virginia bankruptcy and creditors’ rights
practice groups. “Our Northern Virginia office is making strategic moves aimed
at expanding our work as a portal to global client services. We are eager to begin
expanding the services we bring to our regional clients, enabling them to take
advantage of our strength both here in Northern Virginia and our capabilities
around the world.”

Mr. McJunkin continued, ”DLA Piper has lofty goals for the Northern Virginia
office.”

There are now more than 40 attorneys in DLA Piper’s Northern Virginia office, and
that number is expected to grow in the coming months as the firm moves to beef up
the already considerable strength of the office.

These DLA Piper Northern Virginia attorneys represent companies engaged in
enterprise, niche and Internet software, telephony, e-commerce, information
technology, telecommunications, finance, franchising, government contracts,
commercial litigation, and biotech. Their practice groups include Venture Capital
and Emerging Companies, Corporate and Securities, Franchise and Distribution, Life
Sciences, Intellectual Property, Information Technology, Labor and Employment,
Bankruptcy, Finance, Government Contracts, Employee Benefits and Executive
Compensation, Real Estate, and Litigation.

According to Mr. McJunkin, “the Northern Virginia office provides a seamless point
of access to the multitude of client services offered at DLA Piper. The Northern
Virginia office, by virtue of its size, the strength of its resident attorneys, and
close proximity to the burgeoning Northern Virginia business economy, is well
positioned to provide global depth to businesses based in the region.”

Mr. McJunkin moves into the managing partner post vacated by partner Nancy Spangler,
who along with partner Ned Martin is now resident in DLA Piper’s London office.
