Rhône & Teachers’ Private Capital to sell Almatis to Dubai International Capital

6 November 2007 LAWFUEL – International Legal Announcements – Funds controlled by Rhône Capital L.L.C. (“Rhône”) and Teachers’ Private Capital, the private investment arm of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (“OTPP”), have agreed to sell Almatis, the world’s leading producer of specialty alumina, to Dubai International Capital, the international investment arm of Dubai Holding.

Almatis is the global market leader in the research, development and production of specialty alumina materials used in various industrial manufacturing processes such as steel refractories, ceramics and flame retardants. Its modern global manufacturing capability spans three continents, with eight manufacturing facilities in Germany, the Netherlands, the United States, Japan, China and India, employing over 900 people.

International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer fielded a multi-jurisdictional cross-practice team to advise Rhône and OTPP, led by London corporate partner Matthew Cosans and including London finance partner Peter Hall and antitrust competition and trade partners Bob Schlossberg (Washington) and Thomas Wessely (Brussels).
