San Francisco/Palo Alto, CA, May 1, 2007 – LAWFUEL – The Law Jobs Newswire – Baker & McKenzie lawyers from Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Chicago, San Francisco and Palo Alto offices today hosted their annual China Update seminar in Silicon Valley to advise multinational corporations on the latest legal developments and their impact on doing business in China.
The focus of this year’s China Update is “China’s Ever-changing Face: Latest Developments.” More than 170 corporate executives, legal counsels, tax and finance managers, and operation and business development managers representing over 85 multinational companies attended. Baker & McKenzie lawyers led plenary discussions regarding new China legislation and developments in M&A, corporate compliance and governance, tax, employment and equity awards, and intellectual property issues. In breakout workshops, the Firm’s lawyers also explored China, U.S. and cross-border dimensions of four topics in depth: Chinese dispute resolution, negotiating Chinese contracts, tax structuring for operations in China under China’s new tax laws, and employee mobility in and out of China.
