Scotland Yard police officers assisting in the investigation into the death of Pakistan cricket coach, Bob Woolmer have heightened speculation about the murder.
Scotland Yard sent three detectives and a scenes of crime officer led by a detective superintendent, whose identity has not been disclosed, ITV reported.
Their arrival comes as the Jamaican authorities appear no closer to discovering exactly how Woolmer died.
The 58-year-old was discovered unconscious in his bathroom at the Pegasus Hotel, Kingston, on March 18 – following his team’s humiliating defeat to Ireland in the World Cup.
Since Jamaican police dramatically revealed the former England player’s death was a murder hunt when a post-mortem examination revealed he was strangled, theories have abounded as to how and why he was killed.
It has been suggested he was strangled with a towel or poisoned, while others believe he broke a bone in his neck from falling, had a violent fit or died of other natural causes.
Some have speculated he was murdered because he was about to blow the whistle on match-fixing within cricket.
The Yard officers travelled to Jamaica after a formal request from the island’s authorities.
