September 9, 2005, Washington, DC – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network —Top litigator William M. Bosch has joined the Washington, DC, Litigation department of Steptoe & Johnson LLP as partner, effective August 1. Mr. Bosch concentrates his practice on complex litigation, with a particular emphasis on issues involving commercial disputes and intellectual property.

Mr. Bosch was formerly a partner at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, Washington, DC.

The University of Virginia law school graduate has successfully litigated cases in state and federal courts throughout the country, both at the trial and appellate levels, and handled a wide range of matters through alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Bosch was trial counsel in the landmark Woodley Road case that resulted in a multi-million-dollar jury verdict against a major hotel management company on behalf of the hotel owner. He currently serves as lead counsel in a series of related cases in state and federal courts in three states, involving issues of fraud, breach of contract, false advertising, and reverse palming off.

His experience supports his development of creative and effective dispute resolution strategies for a broad array of commercial concerns, including property owners, on-line marketplaces, financial services companies, high-tech and general research, development and manufacturing outfits, and consumer products companies.

Mr. Bosch’s representative matters are varied, including representation in allegations of breach of contract; fraud; breach of fiduciary duty; civil RICO; IP infringement in patent, copyright, and trademark disputes; trade secret misappropriation; false advertising; and unfair competition. In addition, Mr. Bosch represented one of the most widely recognized e-commerce companies in its worldwide trademark enforcement efforts, and developed and implemented a risk-avoidance strategy in the context of willful patent infringement claims on behalf of a medical device manufacturer.

He devotes considerable time to counseling within the hotel and hospitality industry on a broad range of issues, including negotiation and enforcement of management contracts and franchise agreements, intellectual property matters, debt subordination and loan workout issues, and asset management. He advises hotel owners and asset managers, as well as evaluates and litigates disputes with joint venture participants, management companies, franchisors, tenants, lenders, or vendors.

Mr. Bosch is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Virginia, and before the Second and Fourth Circuit Courts of Appeals, the US District Court for the District of Columbia, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and the US District Court for the District of Maryland. His memberships include the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Federalist Society, and the Intellectual Property Owners Association .

In addition to his law degree from the University of Virginia, Mr. Bosch earned an A.B. from Dartmouth College, with honors, and attended the London School of Economics.
