Shareholder Nancy A. Mitchell Moves to New York Office

NEW YORK, June 06, 2007 – LAWFUEL – The Law Firm Newswire – Greenberg Traurig, LLP announced today that Nancy A. Mitchell, a shareholder in the firm’s Chicago office, has moved to the firm’s New York office where she will serve as the new Chair of the office’s Business Reorganization and Bankruptcy Practice. In addition to her responsibilities in New York, Mitchell is also the Business Development Chair for Greenberg Traurig’s national Business Reorganization and Bankruptcy Practice.

“Nancy has vast experience in restructuring and corporate finance as both an attorney and an investment banker,” said Richard A. Rosenbaum, Managing Shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s New York office and the firm’s National Operating Shareholder. “We are fortunate that she can make this move to grow and develop our services for our clients facing the challenges of financial distress or bankruptcy.”

Mitchell joined Greenberg Traurig in 2001. Among a number of high profile restructuring cases, she recently counseled the Unsecured Creditors Committees in the Werner Holding Company and Conseco Finance Company Chapter 11 cases and represented Midas, Inc. in a $172.5 million out of court refinancing. Mitchell has been ranked as a leading lawyer by Chambers USA, Best Lawyers, and Super Lawyers.

She is also one of the founding members of the “Damsels for Distress,” a group formed by the female lawyers in Greenberg Traurig’s Business Reorganization and Bankruptcy Practice. The group sponsors networking events and creates opportunities to support women in the insolvency field, an industry known for being predominantly male.

“The Damsels for Distress is a natural opportunity for Greenberg Traurig because we benefit from having a unusually high number of women in leadership positions in our restructuring practice. This is consistent with a marketplace where the number of women in corporate management is also rising,” said Mitchell. “The events we’ve sponsored have drawn a crowd of extraordinary women professionals from corporations, financial institutions and law firms. Our goal is to provide forums for women professionals to discuss innovative tactics for successfully managing their careers while also enjoying ourselves and learning how other women approach the issues in our field and in their jobs.”

Prior to joining the firm, Mitchell served as an Executive Director for CIBC World Markets Corp and was previously a partner with a major law firm where she focused her practice on restructuring and bankruptcy and corporate finance.

Mitchell received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School, and her B.A., with honors, from Indiana University Bloomington.
