Simmons & Simmons have grown their pensions team in the UK, hiring top pensions risk lawyer Amrit McLean (pictured) and senior lawyers from DLA Piper.
McLean has extensive experience and contact within the pensions risk transfer arena, a key component in insurance deals.

International law firm Simmons & Simmons has significantly bolstered its pensions and de-risking capabilities in London with the hire of partner Amrit Mclean as Global Head of Pensions De-risking, along with four senior lawyers.
The five-strong team will join Simmons from DLA Piper, taking up their roles at the firm on 3 November.
One of the most renowned pensions de-risking lawyers in the market, Amrit’s hire will greatly strengthen Simmons’ expertise in Pensions Risk Transfer (PRT) transactions when acting for insurers, where she brings vast experience and will provide to the firm her longstanding, unrivalled client relationships.
Amrit’s expertise honed over nearly 20 years, combined with strong relationships with leading institutions – many concentrated in the Insurance and Asset Management and Investment Funds (AMIF) sector – will further enhance the firm’s pensions de-risking and transactional insurance capabilities. Amrit has also secured multiple awards including for creating the Buyers’ Report – a tailored service to support insurers – which will continue in her new role.
The new partner hire will complement Simmons’ existing PRT expertise acting on the sell-side for pension scheme trustees and sponsors, providing the firm with a comprehensive offering.
As well as strengthening the firm’s offering in the UK, Amrit brings strong experience supporting international clients, and will exploit Simmons’ established cross-border network to further enhance the firm’s global pensions de-risking capabilities.
