Addition of Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Will Bolster Firm’s White Collar Practice
NEW YORK, NY – October 7, 2009 – Holland & Knight is pleased to announce that Steven D’Alessandro has joined the firm’s New York office as partner in the Litigation Practice Group. His practice concentrates on federal white collar criminal defense, internal corporate investigations and related civil litigation.
Prior to joining the firm, D’Alessandro served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of New York for six years. Before that, he was lead trial counsel in a number of criminal trials and was responsible for investigating a wide range of crimes including fraud, obstruction of justice, bribery, murder, money laundering, alien smuggling, narcotics trafficking and trademark violations. He also has argued appeals before the 2nd and 3rd U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals.
With the U.S. Attorney’s office, D’Alessandro served as senior litigation counsel for the Public Integrity Section and, before that, as deputy chief of the Narcotics Section. Apart from his role as a litigator, he has instructed prosecutors and federal agents at the Department of Justice’s National Advocacy Center. Before working in the Eastern District of New York, D’Alessandro served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the District of New Jersey where he handled civil matters, and as senior attorney for the Department of the Treasury, United States Customs Service.

In addition to his government service, D’Alessandro was an adjunct professor of law at Brooklyn Law School for a number of years, where he taught legal writing and appellate advocacy.
