Addition of Former Snell & Wilmer Partners Strengthens Southwest Presence; Establishes DLA Piper’s Team as Leading Corporate and Securities Group in Phoenix
LAWFUEL – Law Firm Newswire – (Phoenix) – DLA Piper US LLP today announced that Steven Pidgeon and David Lewis, leading Phoenix attorneys, will be joining the firm’s Corporate and Securities practice group as partners in the Phoenix office.
Steven Pidgeon and David Lewis come to the firm from Snell & Wilmer L.L.P, where Pidgeon was co-head of, and Lewis a partner in, the Business & Finance group. Pidgeon will join Mark Nadeau as co-managing partner of DLA Piper’s Phoenix office. Together, Pidgeon and Lewis have represented a wide variety of private and public companies, investment banks, private equity firms and other businesses, including ON Semiconductor Corporation, Meritage Homes Corporation, Roth Capital Partners and Jobing.com.
“Steve and David will provide DLA Piper with a corporate capability in Phoenix consistent with our leading global corporate and finance practice,” said U.S. Managing Partner Terry O’Malley. “Their extensive combined experience in representing both public and private companies in mergers and acquisitions, venture and private equity finance, capital markets transactions and SEC compliance will benefit our clients tremendously. Combining their practice with our ongoing representation of other Phoenix based corporate clients like PF Changs and JDA Software, we will be able to provide our clients the highest quality corporate services in the Southwest.”
“These are extraordinary attorneys who will undoubtedly solidify the firm’s reputation as the preeminent corporate and securities firm throughout the entire region,” said Nadeau. “I look forward to working with them as we continue to build upon the tremendous momentum we have established in the Phoenix office since it opened in February. Our national and international reach will be an unmatched asset for clients in this region.”
Pidgeon and Lewis also bring to DLA Piper significant experience in international transactions. Pidgeon has recently worked on transactions involving German, UK and France-based companies and Lewis has led buyout transactions in Europe and Canada. They look forward to working with DLA Piper’s international network of more than 3,400 attorneys. Together with Nadeau, who is an acknowledged leader in International Dispute Resolution for cross-border transactions, they will offer the Southwest region stellar capabilities and an extensive global network.
The announcement of the partners’ arrival comes on the heels of DLA Piper hosting its first “green” partners retreat in Scottsdale last week. Five hundred domestic and 50 international partners attended the event, a nod to the strides DLA Piper has made in the region. Some of the sustainability initiatives during the conference included limiting paper use by handing out flash drives for handouts instead of binders and using shuttles and carpools rather than individual vehicles to move people. DLA Piper chose the Westin Kierland resort as its host site because of its expansive sustainability program, which includes motion-censored and LED lighting, an energy-efficient kitchen and the composting of landscaping trimmings and golf course clippings. To commemorate the conference, DLA Piper made eco-friendly contributions to the Desert Botanical Garden of Phoenix and the Global Institute of Sustainability at Arizona State University.
