LAWFUEL – Former Labour MP Taito Phillip Field is due in court on Monday after police laid 15 bribery charges against him, along with 25 for attempting to pervert the course of justice, on Friday.
He is due to appear in the Manukau District Court at 10am.
His lawyer, Simativa Perese, told Radio New Zealand that Mr Field has given his consent for police to move forward in the hope that the case will be over before the next election.
Mr Perese says the Court of Appeal is still considering an argument about whether leave should have been granted to take the prosecution in the first place.
He says if that is successful the charges in the criminal case would be withdrawn.
