The award was presented to Kilpatrick Stockton for the Firm’s representation of the best interests of children whose parents are engaged in custody disputes. The Legal Aid of NW North Carolina also recognized Kilpatrick Stockton Partner David Smith with the Attorney of the Year Award. The awards were presented to Kilpatrick Stockton and David Smith at the Legal Aid’s Annual Awards Dinner this month.
Last year, David Smith performed almost 500 hours of pro bono work, valued at over $171,000. David represented the best interests of children in contested custody cases, performed legal work for non-profit organizations and other low-income individuals and supervised attorneys who represented low-income tenants with conditions claims against their landlords. David’s dedication and commitment to providing legal services to the community was instrumental in the firm and himself receiving such prestigious awards for the second year in a row.
