“The jury has convicted William Sablan, age 43, of Saipan, of First Degree Murder.
“Let me thank Assistant United States Attorneys Brenda Taylor and Phil Brimmer for their work on this case. William Sablan now faces a sentence of either life in prison or the death penalty.
“I also want to thank the staff of the US Attorney’s Office and the FBI for devoting long hours to ensure that justice was done. They deal with difficult cases every day, and they should be recognized for their efforts.
“The government now looks toward preparing for the penalty phase of the trial, which is scheduled for Monday, March 19, 2007.”
