The lawyer representing two Britons accused of having sex on a beach in Dubai said today that DNA and medical tests failed to prove they had intercourse.
Vince Acors, 34, of Bromley, south-east London, and 36-year-old Michelle Palmer, of Oakham, Leicestershire, deny allegations of unmarried intercourse and public indecency on July 5.
Following today’s adjournment of their case at Dubai’s court of first instance, Hassan Matter said he was confident the pair would be acquitted.
“Medical reports for Michelle said that she didn’t have sex,” he said. “The DNA from Michelle said she didn’t have sex.
“They were arrested at about 1am and they went for a medical report at about 8.30am. The medical examination of Vincent didn’t give any sure findings.”
Matter also claimed witness statements were “wrong”.
A 21-year-old Palestinian man said he had seen the pair kissing and then having sex after getting out of a taxi.
The policeman who arrested the couple said: “Her shirt was off and she was sitting on him and their voices were excited.
“They didn’t even notice me standing there. He was kissing and playing with her chest. I shone my torch on them and said: ‘Excuse me.’ It was then they noticed me.”
