The prosecution and defense in the Michael Jackson child molestation trial both ended their cases on Friday, opening the way for closing arguments as early as Wednesday. The prosecution rested its rebuttal phase of the trial after showing jurors a videotape of Jackson's young accuser being questioned by police. Jackson's lead attorney, Tom Mesereau, had indicated he would bring the 15-year-old boy back to the witness stand for further cross-examination, but after the video had been shown he told the judge the defense had also finished its case. Jurors had not heard from the boy since he took the witness stand in March and testified Jackson masturbated him at least twice after nights of drinking at the 46-year-old singer's Neverland Valley Ranch. Jackson has pleaded not guilty to charges of molesting the boy, then 13, at Neverland in February or March of 2003, plying the young cancer patient with alcohol in order to abuse him and conspiring to commit child abduction, false imprisonment and extortion. He faces more than 20 years in prison if convicted on all counts.
