LOS ANGELES (June 15, 2011) – Southern California Super Lawyers has selected two attorneys from Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP, one of California’s leading litigation firms, for inclusion in its 2011 “Rising Stars” list: partner Suzanne Badawi and associate Michelle Sugihara. Badawi, her fifth year on the list, and Sugihara, her fourth year on the list, both work out of the firm’s Los Angeles office.
To be eligible for inclusion in Rising Stars, a candidate must be either 40 years old or younger, or in practice for ten years or less. In addition to a general survey, an attorney-led research team reviews the credentials of potential candidates and assigns points based on a set of defined evaluation criteria. No more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are named to the Rising Stars list.
Badawi, who practices Business, Insurance and Real Estate Litigation, manages simple and complex lawsuits in state and federal courts. She has represented businesses in lawsuits involving breach of contract, products liability, false advertising, and fraud; she has represented owners, developers, and title insurance companies in quiet title, easement, commercial lease disputes, unlawful detainer, and lien foreclosure lawsuits; she has also defended many insurance bad faith and coverage cases involving homeowners, auto, and business liability policies.
Sugihara is a member of the firm’s Business and Intellectual Property Litigation group. She has expertise in business and real estate litigation, including easement disputes, construction defect, mechanics’ liens, eminent domain, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, insurance bad faith and other tort actions.
