United States Reaches $85,000 Settlement With Phoenix Man

PHOENIX (LAWFUEL) – The United States has reached a settlement with George Darouni, of Phoenix, for overpayment of Social Security Administration benefits. The United States contended that from January 2004 to September 2008, Darouni intentionally failed to notify the Social Security Administration of his change of residency from Glendale, Calif., to Phoenix. This resulted in Darouni submitting false claims to the Social Security Administration for Social Security benefits. Darouni agreed to pay $85,000 to settle the matter.

The investigation leading to the settlement was conducted by the U.S. Social Security Administration, Office of Inspector General, and Robert K. Lu, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona.
