US Attorney – Baltimore Drug Dealer Pleads Guilty To Heroin Trafficking – LawFuel Legal Jobs & Newswire

LawFuel – MICHAEL J. GARCIA, the United States Attorney from the
Southern District of New York, and PETER J. SMITH, the Special
Agent-in-Charge of the New York Office of the Department of
Homeland Security’s U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement
(“ICE”) announced that TREMAIN ARRNEL TAZEWELL, a/k/a “Roc,”
a/k/a “Slim,” pleaded guilty today to conspiring to purchase
large quantities of heroin in the New York area for distribution
in Baltimore, Maryland. According to the Indictment and other
documents filed in Manhattan federal court, as well as statements
made during TAZEWELL’s guilty plea proceeding:

TAZEWELL operated a heroin distribution business based
in Baltimore, Maryland. At TAZEWELL’s instruction, between 2003
and 2006, a co-conspirator traveled to New York to purchase the
heroin that was then distributed in Baltimore. TAZEWELL is also
featured in one of the “Stop Snitching” videos produced in
Baltimore, Maryland in 2004 to intimidate individuals from
cooperating with law enforcement.

Owing to a prior felony information filed against
TAZEWELL, this offense carries a mandatory minimum sentence of
twenty years in prison and a maximum sentence of life in prison.
TAZEWELL, 29, of Baltimore, Maryland is scheduled to be sentenced
on December 5, 2008.

Mr. GARCIA praised the investigative work of ICE, the
Drug Enforcement Administration of Baltimore, Maryland, and the
Baltimore City Police Department.

This case is being prosecuted by the Office’s Narcotics
Unit. Assistant United States Attorneys KENNETH POLITE and
ANTONIA M. APPS are in charge of the prosecution.
