US Firm Proskauer Rose Set To Open London Office With Former O’Melveny Attorney At Head

lawfuel – The Legal Newswire – Proskauer Rose is set to open its London Mayfair office with former O’Melveny & Myers private equity chairman Matthew Hudson as head, The Lawyer reports.

Hudson, who joined O’Melveny in 2004 as part of the firm’s strategy to rebuild its private equity practice, said the office will focus on private equity and hedge fund work.

“It will be a real focus for us in London. The presence in London will allow the firm to serve its big private equity and hedge fund clients and will definitely enable Proskauer to attract new clients,” Hudson explained.

Earlier this week (4 September), The Lawyer reported that the firm had merged with Paris private equity boutique SGDM.

Proskauer has been advancing its international strategy rapidly, with an office launch in São Paulo in July.

Hudson said: “The firm has been looking at a number of different locations. Launching an office is a very important move for the business. London is a key financial centre and having a presence here will be very beneficial for the firm.”
