LAWFUEL – The Legal Newswire – Police in Warwickshire investigating the death of a male pedestrian who died following an incident on the M69 motorway on Thursday August 23 when he was in collision with a silver Renault Megane, have reappealed for witnesses to come forward.
They are appealing nationwide for motorists, who were travelling along the M69 motorway, near to Junction One (the junction with the A5), between midnight and 00:30amon Thursday 23 August and who either saw the pedestrian walking along the motorway, or who witnessed the collision itself, to make contact.
The man, who suffered multiple injuries and who was pronounced dead at the scene, has been identified as Binda Singh, who was aged 39 years, and lived in Fairfax Road in Leicester.
Officers, investigating how the incident happened, would like to hear from anyone who was driving along the M69 at around the relevant time who may have seen the man walking along and who may have witnessed his behaviour.
Although the incident took place on the Southbound carriageway, there is a possibility that he may also have been walking on the North bound carriageway at some point.
In particular police would like to trace the driver of a white van who it is believed may have witnessed the pedestrian and shortly afterwards attended Hinckley Police Station at between 00:30 hours and 1am on the Thursday morning.
They are also appealing for anyone who drove past the scene of the incident prior to police arrival or anyone who stopped at the scene. Police believe at least one car pulled on to the hard shoulder, but drove on prior to their arrival.
Sgt Colin Matthews said: “People who drove through the scene after the collision may not have realised what was going on so we would urge anyone who travelled along the motorway at the relevant time to contact us as soon as possible.”
“We are making a nationwide appeal for witnesses as drivers on the motorway that night could have come from anywhere in the country.”
