Washington, D.C.—Foley & Lardner LLP announced today that Intellectual Property partner Harold “Hal” Wegner has been honored with the President’s Award for Outstanding Service from the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA). Wegner received the award for his long-time efforts in mentoring and advancing diversity within the organization.
The President’s Award recognizes lifetime achievement and conduct of particular note within AIPLA and the legal profession. Wegner was presented with the second annual award before an audience of nearly 1,000 people during a ceremony at AIPLA’s annual meeting earlier this month.
“Hal’s contributions to AIPLA and the intellectual property profession as a whole are exemplary,” said Richard S. Florsheim, chair of Foley & Lardner’s Intellectual Property Department. “It is in part because of skill, effort and commitment such as Hal’s that Foley & Lardner’s Intellectual Property Department is considered a leader in the legal industry.”
Wegner, a member of the Intellectual Property Department, Public Affairs Practice Group and Automotive Industry Team in Foley & Lardner’s Washington, D.C. office, focuses his practice on multinational patent enforcement and management. Regularly operating in the firm’s Tokyo office, Wegner has also been a visiting professor at Tokyo University and has spent more than five years in Europe and Asia, including positions at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Patent, Copyright and Competition Law and at the Kyoto University Law Faculty. He received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University.
