Washington, D.C.—Foley & Lardner LLP announced today that its Life Sciences practice has been recognized as one of the best in the United States by the Practical Law Company’s (PLC) 2004/2005 Cross Border Life Sciences Handbook. The firm received high marks for its life sciences work in the intellectual property, competition/antitrust and regulatory areas. In addition, the publication named Stephen A. Bent, founder and co-chair of the firm’s Life Sciences Industry Team, a leading attorney in the Intellectual Property category.
PLC’s Cross Border Life Sciences Handbook is a guide to the law and leading lawyers in the industry worldwide. The publication includes a “Which Lawyers” section, which identifies the leading law firms and attorneys in the life sciences sector in 31 jurisdictions throughout the nation. To compile “Which Lawyers,” PLC interviewed private practice practitioners and regulators and received recommendations from industry specialists.
Overall, the guide recognized Foley & Lardner’s Life Sciences practice in four categories. The rankings include:
-Leading Law Firm: Intellectual Property
-Leading Attorney: Stephen Bent/Intellectual Property
-Recommended Law Firm: Competition/Antitrust
-Recommended Law Firm: Regulatory
This recognition follows on the heels of Foley & Lardner’s acquisition earlier this year of the Boston office of Epstein, Becker & Green, which enhanced the firm’s Life Sciences practice. In 2004, the firm also opened New York and Silicon Valley offices as part of its strategic plan to increase its presence in key life sciences markets.
