Washington DC (May 17, 2005) – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Nina R. Eldred, a former assistant general counsel with Marriott International, Inc. is joining the global hospitality practice at Squire, Sanders & Dempsey L.L.P.
At Marriott, Eldred worked with the US lodging management and real estate development group, where she had legal responsibilities for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company’s development activities. She has extensive experience in all aspects of the hospitality industry throughout the United States and Canada, including the acquisition, development, financing, management and disposition of hotels, luxury resorts and mixed-use development projects. Eldred also has substantial experience in the development and management of luxury branded condominiums, either as stand alone projects or associated with hotels.
“Creating luxury hotels and resorts with residential components, spas, golf courses, fractional ownership and timeshare facilities within an integrated project is a major component in the strong resurgence of development in the global hospitality industry, and Nina has worked on some of the most successful and dynamic projects in this area,” said Rick Ross, chairman of Squire Sanders global hospitality/leisure practice group and co-chairman of the firm’s real estate practice. “She has extraordinary experience in developing creative strategies for these highly complex luxury projects. During her 18-year stint with Marriott, she became an industry leader in legal strategies for mixed use luxury projects that set new standards in the industry.”

Eldred is of counsel at Squire Sanders and will be resident in the firm’s Washington DC office. Prior to joining Marriott International, Inc. in 1987, Eldred was a lawyer with Glassie, Pewett, Dudley, Beebe & Shanks, P.C. in Washington DC and was legal officer and corporate secretary for Federal Realty Investment Trust in Chevy Chase, MD.
She obtained her BS from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA and her JD from the Columbus School of Law of The Catholic University of America, where she was ranked in the top 10 percent of her class.
