WASHINGTON, DC November 17, 2006 LAWFUEL – Law News Network – Beltsville resident Steven R. Smith has been elected to the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Inc. board of directors.
Upon Mr. Smith’s confirmation at SCDAA’s annual meeting, Dr. Willarda V. A principal in the Washington, DC office of law firm Ober|Kaler, Mr. Smith practices health law focusing on hospital operational and regulatory matters, general corporate, and employment and labor law issues in a health care setting. Mr. Smith was formerly Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Dimensions Health Corporation.
A 2001 graduate of Leadership Washington, Mr. Smith serves on the board of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce and is an active member of the American Health Lawyers Association. He regularly participates in Maryland State Bar and Prince George’s County Bar association activities.
Mr. Smith received his law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law (1980), and his B.A. from the University of Maryland (1977).
