WASHINGTON, Sept. 20, 2004 LAWFUEL Best energy law, law news, legal research,
attorney, law firm The Energy Bar Association will hold
its Mid-Year Meeting on November 3-4 in Washington, D.C. to address key
concerns facing the energy industry.
This day-and-a-half long program, entitled “Back to Basics, Measured
Steps, or Forging Ahead? – Charting the Pace and Direction of the Energy
Industry” will focus on a range of issues and ask is the industry moving back
to traditional business and regulatory models, moving ahead cautiously, or
rapidly embracing competition?
We will begin the first day with a keynote address by John W. Rowe,
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Exelon Corporation. Following the
keynote address, former FERC Chairman Jim Hoecker will moderate a panel
discussion with FERC General Counsel Cindy Marlette and trade association
leaders. And, with the meeting occurring the day after the 2004 Presidential
election, we are pleased to have as our luncheon speaker Fred Barnes,
Executive Editor of The Weekly Standard. The afternoon will continue with
concurrent sessions. The first will examine procurement of wholesale power
supplies and the second will focus on bringing new gas supplies to market.
Other afternoon sessions will feature panels on buyer market power and
transmission infrastructure development.
The second day will begin with breakfast remarks by the Honorable Pat
Wood, III, Chairman of the FERC. The breakfast address will be followed with
concurrent sessions on appellate review and security and safety considerations
for critical infrastructure projects. Completing the program will be
concurrent sessions on current RTO market issues and ethics.
We are pleased to announce that the EBA’s Charitable Foundation will host
its second annual fundraising gala immediately following the first day of the
program.
