Wellington and Auckland, April 30 (JY&A Media) – LAWFUEL – The News Network – Lucire staff members are preparing their first 16 pp. men’s supplement alongside their duties for the regular June 2005 issue.

Now that the issue is a few weeks away from printing, founding publisher Jack Yan has revealed that the story mix will include one sport, one interview, longer versions of Lucire’s popular men’s grooming, motoring and gadget sections, and a ‘Trends’ section by Phillip D. Johnson, Fiona Barnett and photographer Douglas Rimington. A photo shoot will also appear.

Mr Yan says that he has been disappointed by most antipodean men’s magazines. ‘The lads are well served, but few seem to understand the concept of a gentleman,’ he remarks. ‘The nearest we have ever come in New Zealand was the 1990s’ Auckland-based web site, eMale.

‘You’d think that most men were illiterates or incapable of understanding words longer than two syllables. It’s time for that to change,’ he says.

The magazine retains its social responsibility aims, according to Mr Yan.
Edited by Nicola Brockie, Lucire Men promises to be an intelligent read for the fashionable male. It is expected to be a two-monthly feature in Lucire, which launches its Romanian print edition to accompany the New Zealand one in the next two weeks. Bookings are being taken now.

It was Official Internet Partner of L’Oréal New Zealand Fashion Week for 2002–3, and a media sponsor of the inaugural San Francisco Fashion Week and Official Media Partner of Stockholm FashionDays for 2004–5.
