22 December – LAWFUEL – The Law News Network – Linklaters has elected Chin-Chong Liew as a partner in its Hong Kong office. Chong will join Linklaters as Head of Derivatives and Structured Products for Asia (ex-Japan) from Allen & Overy, where he has held the position of partner since 2000.

Chong’s appointment brings to Linklaters considerable experience in over-the-counter derivatives, structured equity, structured credit, market access and fund-linked products across Asia. Chong, a fluent Mandarin-speaker, will also focus on continuing his development of derivative and structured products in China as the pace of deregulation in the PRC increases.

Linklaters already holds a leading position in these product areas in Japan, strengthened further by the appointment of leading Japanese lawyer Akihiro Wani to the partnership in April. This appointment gives Linklaters the opportunity to grow its delivery of these highly technical specialised products to clients throughout the rest of Asia.
