A $250 million lawsuit brought against Cooley Law School in Michigan by graduate students has been dismissed by a Michigan court. The lawsuit alleged misrepresentation by Cooley over job placement stats, with the former students saying they had been the victims of misinformation.
The Court rejected the lawsuit saying that the statistics quoted by Cooley were “literally true” and that the law school’s claims were not protected by the Michigan Consumer Protection Act.
The Judge also said that the graduates had been unreasonable themselves in relying upon the law school representations.
A similar suit was earlier dismissed involving the New York Law School.
Law school statistics and claims of work opportunities have been the subject of considerable controversy, with schools toning down their claims in recent times.
