Baker & McKenzie today announced the recruitment of entertainment lawyer Jose Maria Mendez as a new partner in Spain.
Mr. Mendez joins Baker & McKenzie following a 3 year stint with Squire Sanders where he undertook numerous significant projects, including representing a Spanish broadcaster in its negotiation of television rights to the World Football Cup of 2002 and 2006 and the protection against counterfeiting of conditional access smart cards for the reception of cable TV. Previously Mr. Mendez was in-house counsel at Polygram (now known as Universal) and was the Assistant General Counsel of Sogecable (Canal +), two leading Spanish media and entertainment companies.
