Gallagher Evelius & Jones Announces New Partnership Elections
Phil Diamond, Matt Pirnot, and Mark Saudek become partners of the firm
BALTIMORE January 4, 2008 LAWFUEL – The Law Firm Newswire – Gallagher Evelius & Jones is pleased to announce that three attorneys have been elected to the firm’s partnership. Philip F. Diamond and Matthew L. Pirnot, practicing in the Gallagher’s Real Estate and Business Transactions Group, and Mark S. Saudek practicing in Litigation have become partners of the firm.
Representing lenders, borrowers and syndicators, Phil Diamond works with clients nationally on transactions relating to real estate development and tax-exempt securities, renewable energy facilities and related tax credits, and structured financing involving the securitization of tax-exempt bonds.
Mr. Diamond joined the firm in 2000. He served as a law clerk for the Honorable John C. Eldridge of the Maryland Court of Appeals from 1999 to 2000. After he completed his undergraduate work at Vassar College (1979), Mr. Diamond earned his MA from Duke University (1983), and his JD, with honor, from the University of Maryland School of Law (1999). Mr. Diamond graduated first in his law school class and was inducted into the Order of the Coif.
Mr. Diamond is a member of the American and Maryland State bar associations. He is a resident of the Roland Park area.
Matt Pirnot joined Gallagher’s Real Estate and Business Transactions Group in 2003. His practice includes a variety of areas of finance such as corporate, municipal, real estate, project and structured finance. Mr. Pirnot represents lenders, investors, developers, and equity syndicators in the financing of renewable energy projects,
commercial real estate, and multifamily housing — both affordable and market rate. He works with clients to
negotiate financing transactions involving secured and unsecured lending, warehouse lines of credit, mezzanine financings, swaps, private equity funds, and securitizations.

Mr. Pirnot earned his BA, magna cum laude, from the University of Delaware (1992), and his JD, with high honors, from the University of North Carolina School of Law (1999), where he was inducted into the Order of Coif.
Admitted to practice law in Maryland and New York, Mr. Pirnot is and is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association. He is a resident of the Towson area.
As a member of the firm’s Litigation Group, Mark Saudek handles a broad range of complex commercial litigation and general civil litigation at the trial and appellate levels. He regularly appears before federal courts, state courts, administrative agencies, and arbitration panels.
Mr. Saudek currently is leading a team of Gallagher attorneys in a receivership case involving a complex, multi-state Ponzi scheme. Twenty-eight entities are engaged in the scheme that enticed more than 1,000 people to invest nearly $50,000,000 in securities that are essentially without value. Gallagher represents the court-appointed receiver in an effort to recover and distribute as much of the investors’ funds as possible.
Mr. Saudek joined Gallagher from the Baltimore office of Hogan & Hartson where he worked from 1997 to 2006. He served as a law clerk for the Honorable Catherine C. Blake of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland from 1995 to 1996. He earned his BA from Wesleyan University (1989) and his JD from the University of Maryland School of Law (1995), both with honors. Mr. Saudek also studied in an honors program at the University of Edinburgh.
Mr. Saudek is admitted to practice law in Maryland and Washington, DC and is active in the American and Maryland State bar associations. He is a resident of the Towson area.
