Berkeley Motorcyclist Dies :: Los Angeles Personal Injury Attorneys Report

According to reports by Los Angeles personal injury attorneys specializing in motorcycle accidents, a motorcyclist who was involved in an accident with a tractor-trailer passed away on Thursday from his injuries.

The accident occurred when the motorcyclist who has been identified by the Alameda County Coroners office as Mario Antonio Gomez was involved in an accident on the westbound Interstate 80 in the vicinity of Ashby Avenue. According to reports from the California Highway Patrol Gomez was on a Suzuki motorcycle and traveling in the fast lane when he struck the back of a Honda Element, this threw the motorcyclist into the next lane of traffic where a tractor-trailer was traveling and was unable to stop in time prior to hitting Gomez.

Reports are that the accident occurred at approximately 1:35 pm on Thursday. Gomez was transported to Highland Hospital in Oakland where he died approximately two hours after his arrival. The injuries sustained by Gomez when he was struck by the tractor-trailer are what were believed to have caused the fatal injuries.

After the accident the westbound lanes were closed for close to an hour and the accident is still under investigation seeking the reason why Gomez’s Suzuki motorcycle struck the back of the Honda Element.
