There’s nothing if not interest, intrigue, sex and the unexpected in President-Elect Donald Trump’s rise to the most powerful position in the world, but the latest release of a document from a former British intelligence officer and linking him to Russians who allegedly have explosive information about Trump is something that has drawn more criticism of Buzzfeed than Donald Trump.
Buzzfeed report that the content, if true, would have been explosive. The only problem is it was unverified and evidently false.
The claims in the document:
The dossier, which is a collection of memos written over a period of months, includes specific, unverified, and potentially unverifiable allegations of contact between Trump aides and Russian operatives, and graphic claims of sexual acts documented by the Russians. CNN reported Tuesday that a two-page synopsis of the report was given to President Obama and Trump.
Trump was most recently in ‘legal trouble’ with the announcement that his son-in-law Jared Kushern would take an advisory position with him in the White House, which drew criticism from several quarters such as the Washington Post, although there are precedents for ‘inter-family’ appointments, such as John F Kennedy’s successful appointment of his brother Robert as Attorney General.
