Fenwick & West Represents MySQL in $1B Acquisition by Sun Microsystems

LAWFUEL – The Legal Newswire – January 16, 2008 (Mountain View and San Francisco, CA) – Fenwick & West LLP represented MySQL AB in its recently announced acquisition by Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: JAVA). Sun will pay approximately $800 million in cash in exchange for all MySQL stock and assume approximately $200 million in options, for a total transaction value of $1 billion. The transaction is expected to close at the end of the third quarter or early fourth quarter of Sun’s fiscal 2008. The completion of the transaction is subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions. MySQL, headquartered in the U.S. and Sweden, is a developer of one of the world’s fastest growing open source databases.
