DALLAS – LawFuel – Legal Announcements – Haynes and Boone, LLP announced that it successfully represented Kelcy Warren, a Dallas-based businessman, in purchasing a majority interest in the Honduran power distribution company Roatan Electric Company (RECO), the local distribution company for the Island of Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras. The project contemplates making significant ongoing investments in RECO in order to increase generation capacity, improve the distribution system, and to pay down RECO debt.
Partner and Americas Practice Group Chair Larry B. Pascal led a multi-jurisdictional Haynes and Boone team from its Latin American practice group, consisting of partners Hunt Buckley (Mexico City) and Alberto de la Peña (Dallas), and associates Ana Pallares (Dallas), Manuel Diaz (Dallas), and Patricia Mastropierro (Mexico City). The project was novel because it involved state intervention in one of the few private and isolated electric system operators in Honduras.
Haynes and Boone, LLP worked closely on the project with Dallas-based Mike Warren, Esq. of Mike Warren, Attorney at Law, as well as Italo Tugliani, Gio Tugliani, Armando Manzanares, and Karla Aguilar from the Honduran office of Consortium Legal.
